Honey, and sugar too, are sweet!
Roses are red, Violets are blue,
honey
is sweet, and sugar too is
sweet. Honey and sugars are a good
source of energy to maintain body
warmth and to empower body movement.
Sugar is the mainstay of such energy
source. And, of the sugars, in this
regard, glucose is 'the king'. Take
note that the body can fully oxidize
sugar to water and (CO2), or carbon
dioxide is the only chemical waste
bi-product. This is efficient
energy capture.
Let us submit, teleologically, that
the body was intended to homeostatically
balance the energy intake with the
actual energy need, or use of. Within
this schema, then, hunger is a servo
trigger to eat, and satiety is a
trigger to stop eating. Observation
suggests that these two trigger
sensations are obtuse, or, let's say
the threshold in each case is fuzzy.
Let us adduce another principle -
eating may be engaged in for pure
pleasure without a regard for
specific need.
Honey & sugar are sweet, so are
pleasant to eat, so pleasant it's
addictive. Why might this be of
concern?
We've noted that sugar is an excellent
energy source. Let us note too that
when the glucose level in the blood
drops too low you lose conciousness -
the brain needs its glucose fix. In
this case conciousness is regained by
giving glucose intravenously.
From the above it seems enigmatic to
suggest that refined sugar should be
held to a minimum in your diet. Sugar
adds the risk that caloric intake
will exceed the need and weight gain
results. Sugar has no nutrients,
empty calories only. If too high a
portion of your caloric intake is
refined sugar then will nutritional
deficiencies ensue unavoidably. The
diet must supply the essential amino
acids, vitamins, minerals, essential
fats, and refined sugar provides non
of the above. Many fruits and some
vegetables are replete with natural
sugars, but they are not just a single
pure sugar and consist of other food
substances. Some sugars in vegetables
and fruits even carry nitrogen, are
amide sugars, and these foods also
contain proteins, fats and fiber.
Hence, fruits and vegetables do not
carry the caution against use, they
are less addictive and are co-mingled
with other nutrients, this contrasts
with refined sugar and (honey).
